THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS WHAT
IS THE PURPOSE OF BY-LAWS? By-laws
are designed to help the church operate is a biblically faithful
manner! WHY
ARE BY-LAWS NEEDED? Every
member of a congregation, no matter the size, can hold to the
same standard of common sense, fairness, and justice. What
may seem to be appropriate for one might not be for another.
For example, giving three days notice of a special business
meeting, or allowing the deacons to spend $3,000 without approval
of the church might
seem to be outrageous to another member. EVERY
CONGREGATION SHOULD SERIOUSLY CONSIDER DEVELOPING BY-LAWS. They are never meant to “choke” but
rather “protect,” the congregation. EVERY
CONGREGATION SHOULD REVISE AND UP-DATE BY-LAWS EVERY TEN YEARS. If
